A fistful of francs

Yesterday evening (Sunday), was the first time since we were in Wales that I've put my Jeans and a jumper on.  The summer heat of the Mediterranean has given way to the cooler temperatures of beautiful, alpine Switzerland.  Plus, we needed to look a little more dressed up to visit the Lucerne Casino.

With Switzerland being such an expensive country, Jean and I were, privately, both rather 'scared' about losing much money on the roulette tables.  The casino cost 20 CHF (Swiss francs) entrance fee, but half that was returned to you in playing chips.  I let Jean loose on the tables, and did my usual thing of buying a beer, and going well away from Jean so as not to jinks her.  My beer was Eichhof, the local brew.  Five francs.  I drank it slowly, trying not to spend much money.

I know how Black Jack is played, but I found a German language brochure with instructions for playing Black Jack, and sat down to read it.  I was pleased to be able to understand most of it.  A while later, I went to see how Jean was doing.  I was just in time to see the croupier's ball land on zero and Jean win 200 francs!  I then went back to the bar and bought another beer.

A short time later, we emerged from the casino with a profit of 300 francs!  About $350 AUD.  Woo hoo!  This well and truly made up for the bee sting earlier.
